Fall 2024 PhD applicant
To apply for the PhD program:
Please submit your application to the PhD program via our Department website. The deadline for applications is December 15, and successful applicants will commence their program in Fall 2024.
During the application process, you will be asked to specify 1-3 research groups you are keen to join in the department. Select our group if you are interested in engineering materials for high-performance membranes aimed at enhancing resource recovery and carbon capture.
Approaching the Villalobos Research Lab before submitting your application:
Upon acceptance into our PhD program, students are immediately paired with a professor, as we do not have a rotation system. Therefore, if you are specifically interested in joining the Villalobos Research Group, we recommend (but don't require) that you reach out to lf.villalobos@usc.edu. Please send your detailed CV and a short overview of your research background and interests. Use the email subject: {your name} - PhD applicant Fall 2024
In our group, graduate students pursue their degrees in either Materials Science or Chemical Engineering. I am looking for two PhD students to join our lab this cycle. We look forward to hearing from prospective students who are passionate about engineering materials for advanced separations!
Additional information:
International applicants unfamiliar with the US system: PhD positions in the US are typically fully funded! At the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, we aim to provide complete funding for all our doctoral students, typically covering tuition, a living expense stipend, and health benefits. Financial support is provided through fellowships, graduate assistantships, or a mix of both.
